It's driving mad! Why do cults need adverts? I'm of the opinion that if you have to get people to join your religion by preaching to them then you really don't have a religion at all. Surely if you had the "answer", people would come to you and you wouldn't have to recruit. Religion is bullshit. We all know it, even if you believe in god, you've got to accept any form of worship created by man is going have mans prejudices. I say take your money you give to your church and look after your loved ones.

Yes, but what if you give your loved ones a nice materialist life, then they spend eternity in hell!
LOL!
But seriously, I think you make a good point about having the answer. One of the reasons I got out of it... as best I could... was realising that it was people who were prolonging all the religious activity. Just people.
When you say religion, though, do you have a specific kind in mind?
PS What ads?

yes funder-*mentalist* of every kind im just fed up with people that can't just live there lives and let other people get on with it. for instance there are many religious people all over the world forcing their religious view and beliefs on people that don't want it. if you tel most people your an atheist they tend to think your nasty or a bit mad! you seem reasonable so im assuming your either agnostic or atheist?

Thanks I try to be reasonable! If I have to label myself in this area, I say I'm a humanist.
I also kinda resent it when people are trotting out lists of religions like .. "Christian, Jew, Muslim, Bhuddist,..." and then they add "and those of no faith"...
as if it was the latter group that have a negative associated with them.

no but i get the feeling it's only a matter of time, i think it maybe illegal to advertise religion on tv. the Scientologists pay people to recruit and they have quoters of people they need to recruit before you go onto the next stage. and the scary thing is they have "centres" all over the usa and uk

OK thanks, where are these adverts then, as I haven't seen any?
They tried to recruit me when I was a student, but I wasn't having anything to do with them. Like many religions do (including many sects of Christianity), they aim at people who are feeling at a low ebb mentally because then they'll be more susceptible to brainwashing.
